How to Fix the Error There Was a Problem Resetting Your PC in Windows 10/8.1/8?
Method 1: Startup Repair
Step 1: Now, connect your USB recovery drive directly to the computer.
Step 2: Reboot your PC
Step 3: Then it will say press any key to boot from the device, and then press any key you like.
Step 4: If you don’t find the dialogue as mentioned in step no. 3, then you have to change the order from the bios.
The steps for that process is as described below –

bootrec /rebuildbcd
After entering each line you will get to know if your code was right or wrong, after this process restart your computer.
Method 4: Using Command Prompt for Reinstalling
This is mainly for those who find hardship while reinstalling the windows.
Step 1: Firstly, connect your USB recovery drive to your PC.
Step 2: Now, reboot your PC.
Step 3: Now as said in the past methods, press any key you wish when it asks to.
Step 4: From the install windows page select repair your computer option.
Step 5: Now press troubleshoot and click advanced options.
Step 6: Then click command prompt
Step 7: Then type notepad and press enter, when the notepad opens click file, then select open.
Step 8: Select all files, from the given menu list.
Step 9: Get your USB drive letter (like D or F) which you may use for booting your windows.
Step 10: Now, get to the command prompt type D: and press the enter button. (Here d has to be replaced with your drive letter.)
Step 11: Then type setup and press enter.
This will help you to open your windows installation guide, now follow the on-screen commands to directly install the windows.
Method 5: SFC and DISM from Command Prompt
These error issues can be sometimes due to corrupted Windows files or registry files. Sometimes this issue can be solved by SFC scan and DISM from the command prompt. Even if you can’t access the Windows, you can still use the SFC scan from out of windows.
Step 1: Firstly, connect your USB recovery drive to your PC.
Step 2: Now, reboot your PC.
Step 3: Now as said in the past methods, press any key you wish when it asks to.
Step 4: From the install windows page select repair your computer option.
Step 5: Now press troubleshoot and click advanced options.
Step 6: Then click command prompt
Step 7: Now type SFC/scannow/offbootdir=d: \ /offwindir=d: \windows and then press enter button.
Step 8: Here you have to replace the d letter with your windows drive letter.
Step 9: Now let the scan complete, and let’s wait for the result.
Step 10: After the scan, you will be shown either a message saying that the system didn’t find any error or the message which says that the problems have fixed.
Step 11: At last, repeat the scan at least 3 times, for making sure your PC is appropriately scanned. After you have completed, it’s better to perform the DISM tool even if you have or haven’t found/solved the issues. The DISM has the power to solve this issue using the installation disc provided.
To run the DISM, follow the steps given below in the same command prompt –
Step 1: Firstly, Type mkdir c:\mountand press the Enter button
Step 2: Type exe /mount-Image /ImageFile:d:\sources\install.wim /index:1 /mountdir:C:\mount\ /readonlyand then press the Enter button
Step 3: Now, wait for your PC to mount your image. Then you may see a message saying, “Operation completed successfully” at the end.
Step 4: Now type exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth /Source: c:\mount\windows /LimitAccess and then press Enter button.
After you are done, re-run the SFC scans again just to make sure everything. Repeat the scans 3 times and then restart your PC. This will fix any corruption issues related to your error.
Method 6: Perform a System Restore
This can also be a great solution to your problem. But remember this method won’t work if you don’t have restore points on your computer. To know about your restore points, simply follow these steps –

Step 3: Now as said in the past methods, press any key you wish when it asks to.
Step 4: From the install windows page select repair your computer option.

Step 7: Then, select the System Restore.

Method 7: Clean Install
As a last method, this is a valid one to be used, now better to do a clean install of the windows either from USB or DVD. Now, simply insert the installation media and boot your PC.
